Tangla English Medium High School has a rich history of consistent academic performance and co-curricular activities. Being one of the oldest schools in the area, it is not really a surprise that the 25th year of our existence is at hand. To commemorate the Silver Jubilee, a host of events have been lined up. The Silver Jubilee Celebrations will not only celebrate our past but also promote our ties with other institutions of the region.

Interschool Cricket Tournament

11th and 12th November 2022

The Interschool Cricket Tournament aims to promote the importance of sports for a healthy lifestyle and to foster a spirit of sportsmanship among the students of the participating schools.



• Each school can send only one representing team.

• Each squad may consist of 15 players.

• Registration fees for each team - 150/-

• A uniform dress code is mandatory for all teams. Teams may choose to wear their school jersey or uniform.

• Wearing shoes is mandatory.

• All matches would be knockout matches.

• Each match will be of 5 overs except the final, which will be of 7 overs.

• Match schedules will be decided on a lottery system.

• Decision of the umpire would be final.

• All students in a team must carry their school ID cards.

• Trophies, medals, and certificates to be given to the finalists only. There is no prize money.

Interschool Green Conclave

19th November 2022

The Interschool Green Conclave aims to induce critical thinking among school children to find out small but possible ways to combat climate change, pollution, and loss of biodiversity. Students would devise simple but efficient theoretical models which might be used to prevent further degradation of the environment locally. A keynote lecture will also be delivered by a noted environmentalist or climate change activist.



• Each school can send a maximum of two green models with a problem statement of their own choosing and their potential solution.

• There can be a maximum of two student representatives for each green model.

• Each green model will require a short seminar paper (around 1500 words) outlying the problem, its reasons and potential solution. Physical models are not required but might be presented if appropriate

• The presentation can be done through charts or powerpoint.

• Each presentation will be given 10 mins, followed by an interactive session with the moderators and audience.

• Both English and Assamese can be used during this event.

• It is not mandatory for school representatives to present a model but they are expected to interact and add to the narrative as a whole.

• A document would be compiled with the best green models and presented to concerned authorities.

• The best presenter/team will be awarded.

• A sample paper and additional details will be provided in a separate document with brochure (Annexure I).

Interschool Debate Workshop

5th November 2022

Debates are essential in order to develop a critically sound mind. This workshop aims to revive the debating culture in the region and to help students achieve their personal best.

• There will be no registration fee.

• Each school may send a maximum of four students for the workshop.

• The workshop shall address both English and Assamese medium.

• Workshop kits will be provided to all participants.

• Packet Lunch will also be provided.

Cultural Rally

Date: 23rd November 2022
Starting point: TEMHS campus

A rally portraying several important contemporary themes would be organised by the students of TEMHS. The school flag will be hoisted before the rally begins. The cultural rally will herald the four days continuous celebration period of the Silver Jubilee.

24th November – Inter School Competitions
1. On-spot Essay Writing Competition
• Each school may send only two representative.
• The topic will be provided on the spot.
• School representatives may write either in English, Assamese or Bodo.
• Time period - 45 minutes.
• Prizes will be given to the two best essays.

2. Extempore Speech
• Each school may send only two representatives.
• Representatives will choose their topic randomly from a mixed bowl of topics.
• Representatives will be allowed to choose again if the first topic is not to their liking.
• Each representative will be given only 2 minutes for speaking.
• School representatives may speak in English, Assamese or Bodo.
• Prizes will be given to the two best speakers.
3. Debate Competition
Topic: In opinion of the house, “the traditional classroom teaching does not fulfil the contemporary needs of society.”

• Each school may send only one team to the debate competition, one for the motion and one against the motion.
• Lone debaters are not allowed.
• The Mover of the motion shall be determined by a draw of lots and would be allotted 6 minutes to speak while the other debaters would be given 5minutes each.
• The Mover will be given an additional minute to sum up the motion but that will not be considered for evaluation.
• A warning bell would go off in the last minute to warn the participants.
• Debaters may use English, Assamese or Bodo.
• Prizes will be given to the best team and the best debater.

4. Science Model Competition/Exhibition
• The competition shall be held in two categories- Junior section(V-VII) and Senior Section (VIII-X).
• Each school can send a maximum of 2 groups in each category.
• Each group shall contain two students.
• The students will present their models from 10 AM to 2.30 PM in the designated hall in school premises of TEMHS.
• The exhibition will go on for two days (24th and 25th November).
• The models will be judged, and prizes be awarded to the best two models.
25th November 2022
1. Art Competition
• The competition will be held in two categories- Junior section (V-VII) and Senior Section (VIII-X).
• Each school can send a maximum of 2 participants in each category.
• Art paper will be provided but participants will have to bring their own drawing materials.
• There will be no restriction on medium. Participants may use whichever suits them better (e.g.- Watercolour, graphite pencils, pastels etc.).
• Prizes will be given to the two best artworks in each category.

2. Quiz Competition

◦ A school can send a maximum of 2 groups for the event.
◦ Students from Class VI- X can participate.
◦ It will be a general quiz with no specific theme.
• Each group to have a maximum of 3 participants.
• If necessary one preliminary round shall be held to select the finalists.
• Decision of the quizmaster shall be final.
• Prizes will be given to the winning team and the runners-up.

3. Music Competition
• There will be two categories in the music competition- Traditional and Modern
• Traditional category to include- Jyoti Sangeet, Bishnu Rabha Sangeet, Bhupendra Sangeet.
• Participants shall choose a song of their liking from the list of songs provided for the traditional category (Annexure II).
• Modern category to include any modern song in any language.
• Each school can send two representatives for each category.
• Participants may bring their own instrumentalists for harmonium, tabla and guitar only. TEMHS will be providing instrumentalists for the same. No other instruments or backup tracks allowed.
• School representatives may participate without uniform but must furnish school ID for verification at the on-site registration desk.
• On-site registration desk to function from 4.00-4.45 pm.
• New on-site registration will also be allowed.
• Prizes will be given to the best three singers from each category.

Alumni Meet

Date: 26th November 2022
Venue: TEMHS campus

The Alumni Meet would serve as one of the highlights of the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Since its inception in 1996, 22 batches of students have matriculated from the school and this gathering would probably be the largest in the history of this school. Various sub-events would be organised on that day.

General Meeting

Date: 27th November 2022
Venue: TEMHS campus

A general meeting will be held where the parents/guardians of the students and eminent people of the region will be invited along with students and alumni. There will be a lecture from a distinguished scholar. A brief history of the school and a report on the Silver Jubilee celebrations will also be presented. The prize giving ceremony for the winners will also be conducted in the second half of the meeting. Certificates of participation will be sent to the respective schools after the event.

The exact specifics and details would be updated in the website in due time.

All the Higher Secondary schools in the Greater Tangla region along with certain others within the Udalguri district shall be invited to the Silver Jubilee celebrations in due time. A detailed brochure containing all information relevant to the events will also be shared. Our school representatives will also be in close contact with the invited institutions to ensure that the information regarding student participation is properly handled. All the participants would be provided with relevant ID cards, certificates of participation and food (packet lunch).

How to register?
• Registration forms will be provided to each school for each event. These forms will need to be completed by the school authorities/teachers-in-charge and will be collected by our organising team in time.
• ID cards for students representing their schools will be made based on the registration forms.
• Pre-registration is a must. New on-spot registrations will not be allowed.
• Students would need to be accompanied by a teacher-in-charge for each day of events.

 

General information-
• All the participants in any given event date must report at the on-site registration desk within 8.30 am – 9.30 am.
• ID cards and kits (if any) will be provided to the participants and teacher-in-charge at the registration desk.
• School uniform is mandatory for school representatives unless specified otherwise.
• Certificates will be provided to all participants unless specified otherwise.
• Prizes and certificates of awardees will be provided in a ceremony in the General Meeting to be held on the 27th of November 2022.
• Participation certificates of participants will be sent to their respective schools after the event.

General FAQ

All the High Schools in the Greater Tangla region will be invited to the Silver Jubilee Celebration events by the last week of October 2022. Details on how to participate will be mentioned in the brochures. The details will also be updated in the website around the same time.

Yes, certain limits will be placed on the number of students participating in any event. For example, only one Cricket team will be allowed per school in the Interschool Cricket Tournament. Exact details for every event will be provided in the brochures sent to the schools.

All the High Schools in the greater Tangla region will be invited to the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. If we somehow missed your school, we apologise for the oversight. Please get in touch with us ASAP and we shall do the rest! We want everyone to be a part of our celebration!
